Autograph or Picture?
September 6th, 2009 Posted in UncategorizedThat’s what I was asking myself Friday night while at a Blackhawks event where some of the players would be. This isn’t the first time that I’ve been in a situation like this where I can aim for an autograph and/or a picture with an athlete.
I have a small handful of autographed things, but have noticed certain autographs have faded or blurred over time, mostly on baseballs. It’s just recently that I’ve started taking more photographs and I find pictures taken with an athlete or some other famous person are much more memorable than an autograph.
I wanted to see what other people thought, so I threw out the question on Twitter. Here are some of the replies:
TheRopolitans: Autograph. It might be worth something someday!
ms_tinamarie: probably a photo, love having the moment captured.
dinoplays: pic w/ them–when im senile i won’t remember who signd auto, but some sweet person @ oldfolkshome will tell me who’s n pic w/ me
MickeyMets: Picture. A more visual memory than an autograph.
nicolino11: pic. it lasts longer and has you in it. don’t care about making money on an athlete. the experience is the best part.
NYMetsGrrl94 & LadyMet: I’d get the pic because even the 2 seconds it takes is more personal than the autograph everyone is getting
metsgrrl: i get DW because we have a photo we bought of DW and Cliff Floyd from the 06 season, and cliff already signed it. I want both.
PITC: Pic-you have the memory. Then send copy of the pic to the athlete’s stadium w stamped, self addressed envelope & hope they are accommodating.
Granted this is a small handful of replies, but it seems I’m not alone in my thinking. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ll still take an autograph, especially if I have a picture of me and that person together. Then it’s doubly as sweet!
