Blackhawks Night at U.S. Cellular Field
September 5th, 2009 Posted in Blackhawks, Jonathan Toews, White SoxFriday night was Blackhawks Night at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. As a Blackhawks season ticket holder, Nik and I had the opportunity to buy tickets for the event which also got us into the White Sox/Red Sox game.
The whole ticket package was a great deal: special event t-shirt, admission to an “interactive zone” with a bag toss, caricature artists, balloonist and mascots. There was a small handful of Blackhawks players who made an appearance, giving autographs and taking pictures. The event culminated with an on-field parade for the ticket holders. We entered the field through centerfield and walked around the warning track, down the third base line, around home and back out to the outfield.
It was a great time, and I’m sorry I didn’t get more pictures taken with some of the players, mainly Duncan Keith. I bypassed trying to get a picture with Toews, since I already have one with him. Cristobal Huet was there with a kid I am assuming is his and it was cute to see them walking around holding hands. Huet is actually a good looking dude in person.
Each Blackhawks player that was there walked to the mound as they got introduced. Duncan Keith had the honor of throwing the first pitch to Mark Buehrle.
The game itself was also great. The White Sox came out swinging and went up early on the Red Sox, taking a 12-2 win. Perhaps the White Sox have a small chance to make the post season?
