Mets vs. Cubs – Games 2 & 3
August 30th, 2009 Posted in Merkle's, Mets gamesSaturday started out with pre-game festivities at Merkle’s. There were a bunch of Mets fans that came into the bar and it was great. Definitely met some nice people, both from here and from out of town. The game itself, was just another one to forget about. I did have great seats for both games, section 242. Thank you Stacy!
Sunday was much better: we got a win! Everyone in the lineup got at least one hit, even Figgy, who pitched a great game. Too little too late? Maybe, but he deserved a win, as did we, the fans. Actor/comedian Jon Lovitz threw out the first pitch and sung the 7th inning stretch.
If you’ve ever been to Wrigley, it’s no secret where the visiting team enters and exits. Their bus is set up right outside one of the gates by the Harry Caray statue, so after today’s game I decided to hang out and try to get a few pictures. Success! Pedro Feliciano and Lance Broadway were the only players to sign autographs, a nice gesture that more players need to follow suit. (Let it be known, I think Broadway is a cutie!)

Nicely done, nice pics! We ended bouncing around Logan Square and finished too late to come by Merkle’s, dang it…

Yep, new camera: Nikon D40. A digital SLR. The thing kicks ass!
Pico, sorry you couldn’t come by. Hopefully next year is a better season and we have more in-season meet-ups.
